DINWIDDIE, VA – Dinwiddie County has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This award, given by the Government Finance Officers Association, is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
County Administrator, Kevin Massengill, stated that “Dinwiddie County is proud to receive this recognition, which is the result of commitment, dedication, hard work and meticulous attention to detail on the part of Deputy County Administrator of Finance and General Services, Anne Howerton and her staff. This distinguished award not only validates Dinwiddie County’s financial practices, but is a reflection of the manner in which we strive to carry out all aspects of the public trust.”
Brenda Ebron-Bonner, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, commented “Since being elected to the Board of Supervisors, and now serving as Chair, I have a great appreciation for the County’s professional workforce. Mrs. Howerton does an excellent job of managing the County’s finance department and is to be commended for her hard work. Despite challenging economic times, the citizens of Dinwiddie County can rest assured that the County is financially sound and leaders continue to be good stewards of public resources.” Notification of this award was received with certificates for Mrs. Howerton and her staff, and will be followed up with a plaque for permanent display to the public.
