Emergency pipe repairs to close McKenney Hwy. Wednesday

DINWIDDIE – A traffic alert for those of you who travel along McKenney Highway as the Virginia Department of Transportation announced a stretch of the road will be closed Wednesday for emergency repairs.

In a statement from VDOT, the agency will close McKenney Hwy. (Rt. 40) near Walkers Mill Rd. (Rt. 665) starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday for an emergency storm drain replacement, which was seriously damaged following recent rainfall.

Officials expect that work to take most of the day Wednesday, weather permitting.

The following detour will be posted for drivers traveling through the area:

Take Walkers Mill Rd. (Rt. 665) north to Flatfoot Rd. (Rt. 626) south back to McKenney Hwy. (Rt. 40) east.

VDOT expects the roadway to fully reopen by Thursday, July 20.
