DINWIDDIE – Dinwiddie County’s Teen Expo is quickly becoming the go-to event for the county’s young people if last weekend’s event at Richard Bland College was any indication.
200 teenagers made their way to the college for a day of panels, activities and other events as part of Dinwiddie’s fifth annual Teen Expo event, hosted by Richard Bland College, one of the longest running sponsors of the event as they donate the school’s grounds to the event.
Dinwiddie’s young people learned about civic engagement and gained knowledge about money management, and spent time with vendors and employers inside Richard Bland College’s Statesmen Hall gym.
Outside, there were plenty of activities, including a rock wall, volleyball, and gaming station for those who wanted to try their hands at video games and, along with the knowledge that will last beyond the one-day event, some walked away with cool prizes, including a Sony PlayStation 4 and LCD television.
This year, there was a waiting list of teenagers as registration reached its cap of 200 people, resulting in the highest-attended Teen Expo to date. According to Marie Grant with Dinwiddie County, planning is already underway for the 2019 Teen Expo.
