Single-vehicle crash claims Dinwiddie man’s life

DINWIDDIE – A Dinwiddie man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash along Halifax Road.

According to Virginia State Police Sgt. Keeli Hill, just after noon Monday, state police was called to the scene of a crash along Halifax Road and Route 605.

The preliminary investigation shows a 2010 GMC Acadia, driven by, Bernard E. Harper, 45, of Dinwiddie, Va., was traveling northbound on Route 604 when he ran off road right, came back onto the roadway striking a mailbox and covert, then rolling the vehicle and striking a tree.

Sgt. Hill said Harper was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and died from his injuries at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
