DINWIDDIE – Sunnyside Elementary School students visited the October school board meeting to share about what they have been doing this year.

The students recently learned about being unique by reading the book “Only One You” by Linda Kranz and painting rocks for a display at their school.

They presented each member of the school board with a painted rock and a copy of the book. They also shared that members of the National Honor Society have begun assisting the food bank to unload food.

Principal Wanda Snodgrass said that the school tries to prepare students to be good citizens by including things like community service in their education.

“At Sunnyside, of course, we do focus really, really hard on academics, but we also focus on the education of the whole child,” Snodgrass said.
