Where you can see fireworks around the region for the Fourth of July

CENTRAL VIRGINIA – It’s that time of year again when celebrations of America’s independence light up the night sky during the Fourth of July holiday. For those families looking for experience fireworks as they enjoy the nation’s birthday are in luck as there are several different events planned for the Fourth of July.

Below is a listing of some events that will be going on across the Tri-Cities and in neighboring communities:

Surry County Celebrates The Fourth – Surry Recreation Center, Monday, July 3

Surry County hosts its annual Fourth of July event on Monday, July 3 at the Surry County Recreation Center located at 205 Enos Farm Drive in the county. The festivities start off at 4 p.m. with a youth festival where there will be activities for children, vendors and live music. The fireworks are scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. For more information, call the Surry County Department of Parks and Recreation at (757) 294-3044.

Fourth at the Fort – Fort Lee, Tuesday, July 4

Celebrate your independence at Fort Lee’s annual Fourth at the Fort celebration on Tuesday, July 4 at Williams Stadium. The events begins at 5 p.m., with music, food and the KidZone (inflatables and games for the kids). The 392d Army Band will perform a rousing set of patriotic standards at 5:15 p.m, followed by country music singer/songwriter, Jackie Lee at 6:45 p.m. Maddie & Tae, the country music duo behind the chart-topping hit, “Girl In A Country Song,” will take the stage at 8:00 p.m. Our spectacular firework show will begin at 9:30 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public. Personal pyrotechnics, tailgating, glass bottles, smoking, backpacks, coolers and pets are not permitted in or around the event area. Plastic and mesh see-thru bags allowed.

Colonial Heights Fireworks Display – Southpark Mall corridor, Tuesday, July 4

The City of Colonial Heights will sponsor a fireworks display on Tuesday, July 4th in the vicinity of Charles Dimmock Parkway in Colonial Heights. Fireworks will start at approximately 9:15 pm. Viewing for the fireworks will be off Interstate 95, Exit 53 or 54 in the Southgate Square/Wal-Mart Area. Bring blankets and/or lawn chairs.

Please note that Roslyn Landing Park will be closed from sunrise on the day of the fireworks display until the following day. No vehicles or people are allowed in the park during this time.

July 4th Celebration in Chesterfield – Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, Tuesday, July 4.

Celebrate Independence Day with a spectacular fireworks display at dark, preceded by activities for children including inflatables, food vendors and musical entertainment by KOS and the Chesterfield Community Band, plus roving entertainers and much more. Bring blankets or lawn chairs. No alcohol, glass bottles, pets or personal fireworks allowed. All bags and coolers will be subject to search. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the road closes at 8:30 p.m. (or when the parking lots are full.) Fireworks begin at dark. No rain date.  Call 748-1992 for more information.

Kings Dominion’s Star Spangled Celebration – Kings Dominion, Doswell, June 30-July 4

Kings Dominion will be decked out in red, white, and blue this Independence Day! Celebrate all weekend long with energetic performances from local military bands and dazzling extended firework shows each evening, plus all of your favorite rides. Kings Dominion is also honoring service members by offering FREE admission to the park for active and retired military as well as veterans with honorable or medical discharge. Valid ID required.

Busch Gardens’ Fireworks Spectacular – Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, July 3-4

Celebrate summer with a fireworks spectacular at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. This event inspires park-goers through fireworks and moving original soundscapes. For Independence Day, fireworks will begin on July 3 and 4 at 9:30 p.m. Following the holiday, fireworks will be displayed every Friday between July 7 through August 25 beginning at 9:45 p.m.
