PETERSBURG, Va -- John Tyler Community College is inviting the local community to participate in its upcoming Career Discovery series held online Nov. 10 – 19. Attendees will be able to explore their career interests, meet and talk to faculty who teach Tyler’s in-demand programs and learn about the college and its partnerships with area employers and four-year colleges and universities.
In addition to career-field-specific sessions, there will also be sessions for those interested in transferring after Tyler to pursue a bachelor’s degree and a session for those who are considering returning to school for a career change.
Session topics will include general studies and transferring, information technology, psychology, returning to school, criminal justice, business, nursing and ems and skilled trades.
Career Discovery Sessions are open to all free of charge. Those who are interested in more than one topic are welcome to attend as many sessions as they like. John Tyler Community College assisted more than 9,000 learners during the 2019-2020 academic year through its workforce development division, Community College Workforce Alliance, a partnership between Tyler and Reynolds community colleges. The college offers more than 75 majors and provides pathways to four-year universities, industry credentials and licenses.
