PETERSBURG, Va -- A fatal shooting at the intersection of Seaboard Street and Church Street in Petersburg occured Oct. 8 and is still being investigated by police.
The Petersburg Police say that they responded to the area at about 6:15 p.m. that day in response to calls about a shooting.
The department’s twitter account tweeted “@PBurgPolice are on location at Seaboard Street and Church Street for a person shot. That person has life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. If any has any information, please contact the police or leave a tip athttp://P3tips.com.”
Multiple instances of fatal shootings have recently occured in the City of Petersburg. In the past month, there have been a total of six aggravated assault charges involving a firearm were made in Petersburg.
In September, a drive-by shooting killed a 23-year-old man at a busy Petersburg intersection along the 1100 block of Wythe Street. There was reportedly an argument between someone inside a black SUV and a person on the street before the shooting though it’s unclear if they are the shooting victim.
A Petersburg man was also charged with murder in September for the shooting of another Petersburg man, who was discovered mortally wounded inside a Hopewell residence. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force charged the man with first-degree murder, felony use of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.
